A growing Pittsburgh suburb, Peters Township is a community that prides itself on an excellent quality of life for its 20,000-plus residents. The community has a rich tradition of being proactive with respect to its infrastructure, community facilities, planning and management. Recognizing that many recommendations from its 2001 comprehensive plan had been achieved and concerned that others might no longer be relevant, the Township retained LSL Planning to lead an ambitious planning process to reevaluate the direction of the community and test its overall sustainability.
Leading a team of specialists in economics, design, transportation, and land use, LSL conducted an extensive process to engage the community in identifying and evaluating its future through alternative growth scenarios. This process not only illustrated the physical layout of various land use options, but identified the fiscal, physical, and social implications of each to allow the community to glimpse its future and decide on the appropriate course.
